Hi my name is Robert. I am new to this. I am 28 yrs old and currently attending SPC. I was recommended by a very reliable source to give this a shot. Like alot of you I am very introverted and rarely if sometimes never relate to people much which comes with the territory I am told. I knew nothing much about Aspergers (in fact I dont even know how to spell it) However I did google it and ventured to a number of sites in regards to many of the symptoms matched up. Nobody likes the longwinded, so I will say thanks for your time.

Why, you are welcome Robert. I myself have Aspergers (you spelled it right). Since you are new here, I'll tell you, you'll probably find it very interesting, all of the conversations and such (especially the ones with me in it, because I can be quite humorous, if you will, by my random and loud comments. You can observe some of the other messages). But if you're not sure whether or not you're an "Aspie", you could probably talk to Kim (csweepigirl) about it. She's one of the "experts" on here. And then there's also Kelly (KellyNNelson I think). She's pretty knowlegable of the condition, about as much as Kim I'd say.

(And I've got a secret that you can't tell Kim or Kelly: I just HAD to be the first one to the "new guy." They always get to talk to the new people first, and by the time I see it, they're already going at a conversation far too progressed for me to engage in. Whadda ya say we have a nice big long conversation before they get wind of it, eh? hahahahahahaha!)

Well, Robert, it seems you've taken a turn of expression. You're more silly now. Are you more often silly or formal and serious?

But its good that you're not letting it bother you. I take it you're talking about AS. And, I'll tell you, though you probably already know, it's an awful hard thing to do to ignore some of the symptoms of AS. If I know at as young an age as I'm at, you surely know. Keep it up!

But today, I've been on-and-off with things- computer, reading, music, just going from one thing to another. Just a little while ago, I was reading a book called "Asperger's From the Inside Out" by Micheal John Carley. I just got it, so I did what I do with most books and skimmed through the pages, and one section caught my eye. It was one on dating, relationships, and sex, which are things I'm usually most curious about and interested in when it comes to AS because I've put a lot of thought on those categories and have had a lot of trouble there too. And that's pretty much made it my "day." This morning I got up, and I was gonna run, but it was raining too hard so I'll have to do it a little bit later.

Mill? I'm not sure I know why you are using that word/name. Could you tell me?

Now, is your name Jerry or Robert? ...Cause I'm a bit confused.

It was just short for man of a million names.I didn't mean to confuse you. At any rate we had no rain today. I gotta check that book out. Thanks for the warm welcome Dr. Ron! Oh yeah my name is Robert.Of all million names what do you prefer?

man of a million names

Oh! I wouldn't even have thought of that! It's alright, though. I wasn't really confused, just not certain why you were calling me that. But I was confused as to what your real name was. So if it's Robert, why do you have Jerry right there? I looked it up, and I found something on a wrestler. Might that have anything to do with it?

But as for my name, I prefer Chris. Thanks for asking. I almost forgot to tell you. That's somewhat of a habit.

But lucky you, Mr. No-Rain. I've had rain this entire day. Luckily, though, it's calmed down a bit, maybe just enough to get 2-3 miles in.

Hey, welcome to the forum =D So how was the beach? I thought briefly about going today..but..well "duty" AKA this very addicting game called farmville kind of took over LOL. If only it wasn't virtual, I would be helping the planet lol! I'm going to the causeway this weekend though, as long as the weather is good. I'm lazy, I love the fact that if I go to sandkey causeway I can drive right up on the sand, and walk 20 steps to the water LOL. Plus I turn my car on 20 minutes before it's time to leave with the AC on, so it's nice and cold for the ride home. We can't really go the the "big" beach anyway because my daughter HATES seagulls, the sound they make, so we barely get away with going to the causeway. Tell us about yourself, and feel free to ask away. Ttyl, Kim

The beach was fine, just crowded with people I ran across a few beligerant drunks which is expected and had a few words but walked away. It was the perfect day for it and got some sun. I dont know what I can say about myself. I guess I am taking in the fact I have an additional diagnosis (AS). It's no surprise to me but at the same time id be lying if I said it doesn't concern me alittle. Yeah me and my gf occasionally go out there to Sand Key and which is a beautiful place. I remember one morning she woke me up really early which is impossible to do but I went along with her plan to go to the beach for a walk and on the shore I found a baby octopus believe it or not. It was kinda cool.

man of a million names

Haha, beligerent drunks. Aren't they always? Sounds like you had fun, though. Man, I wish I could move to Florida. Sounds like all you guys ever do is have fun. But, Rob, if you haven't already noticed, that would happen to be the Kim I was talking about, haha. You can ask her all the questions in the world about AS and she could answer every one of them in a day. So have at it!
But, man, I'm jealous of you Rob. You've got a girlfriend. Mr. Lucky. Sometimes I can't wait till I hit 20. But I guess I'd better enjoy teenagehood while it lasts, cause it ain't coming back.

And as for you, Kimmy, me and Robert are friends now, so you can just... just... leave! Hahaha, just kidding!
Farmville? You nerd! Hahaha! Trying to save the virtual world from "global warming" and the "terrorists," AKA "porn" and "predators."

I never knew you were lazy though. You always seemed the opposite, whatever word that may be, to me. But, damn! You guys have it so easy! Getting to go to the beach everyday and swim and have fun and whatnot. I'm stuck up here with the rain and semi-bad weather. I want to go to Florida! I'll see what I can do...

Florida is awesome, in the summer. Mid september until the end of March in my opinion, sucks. I mean, It does get cold. I've lived here all my life though, so... Tourists swim in the freeking winter!! It's kindof funny LMAO. An octopus, that's cool. I had a bunch of other diagnoses too, and I still have other diagnoses, but if I didn't have Aspergers, than I wouldn't have the panic and other things, if that makes sense. I isolate alot, but I'm not depressed, unlike what it appears to others. The only HUGE PROBLEM I have is the contant anxiety that I wish would go away forever! I hate it.

12Just a quick hello Empty Re: Just a quick hello Sat Aug 22, 2009 6:29 am

man of a million names

Haha, have you ever even seen snow? It is NOT cold in Florida E-VER. Tourists swim in the winter because it's warm. If you want cold, come up here *where it snows!*. that's like, under 32 degrees farenheit, which rarely occurs in the tropics.

So who were you talking to about the diagnoses?

13Just a quick hello Empty Re: Just a quick hello Sat Aug 22, 2009 10:55 am

Jerry Graham

Yes Chris I tell ya enjoy your youth! Ive seen snow in the Mouthains in North California. Dont be jealous of me Chris, Id trade places in a second. Id love to have my youth again and right many many wrongs. Karma can be cruel. Anxiety is hell. In my case I have had to put myself out there in spite of being judged and ridiculed which was common throughout childhood to my mid 20s. The con to that is the fear has been replaced by extreme dislike to many people I run into. It is unproductive and interferes with inner peace, which is something I want really badly. Its one of those things, progress not perfection I suppose. In any case be good to yourselves.

Yeah, I've been given that advice for my entire life, and I'm starting to follow it. So as of now, I'm trying to make my teenagehood worthwhile and positively memorable. Which is coming pretty well actually. After this, I'll just have to make my entire adulthood the same. You only live once, so...

You dont need validation. I promise you that much. Just stay teachable no matter how far you make it in life. You will do great things. The answers to everything are out there, just put yourself out there in spite of being a fellow Aspi. The fear will be there. I know it is for me, has been since I was in Kindergarden. They put me in EH classes cause they thought I was Antisocial PD. I am sure many others With Aspergers were thrown to the wolves. From what I gather little being known about it. im sure it still happens. I shouldnt whine when I know so little about the subject.

Well, I thank you for the advice Robert. I will do my best to follow it.
So what are "EH classes" and "Antisocial PD"?

19Just a quick hello Empty Re: Just a quick hello Thu Aug 27, 2009 1:09 am

Jerry Graham

Emotionally Handicap = EH. Regulations were different then. They used to have the principal paddled students then. That gives you an indication of how anchient I am. Antisocial Personality Disorder is another word for a Sociopath. To put it plainly a Sociopath has no conscience. I was put with them in grade school through high school. I learned a new definition of fear. I eventually got mixed up with that peronality type in my teens and early 20s. I was lucky in spite of ugly situations happening nothing too bad happened to me. Look not for pity. I guess my point was I am sure it still happens all the time, maybe alittle less or more. Whats done is done. I am learning to always take a step forward, win, lose or draw.

20Just a quick hello Empty Re: Just a quick hello Fri Aug 28, 2009 6:38 am

man of a million names

Well, you know, next to nobody knew what autism was back then, let alone AS, so it was an accident, as tragic a one as it is. Best thing to keep a positive attitude, which I think you'll have no problem doing.

But I never knew a Sociopath-- well I never knew what a Sociopath was. So what do you mean by you're lucky in spite of those situations?

I guess I mean I am lucky in the sense there are always others who have it worse. I am lucky I wasn't killed or shot. I have a step brother who is doing time in a state prison for some mistakes he made. I am lucky I didn't get too far involved in that life style to end up where he and many of his associates are. I do have problems keeping a positive attitude like the next person id imagine. It's funny looking back now, I believe my quote was no1 likes the long winded. Here I go babbling on. See I am still learning. I suppose it will always be that way if there as long as I have breath. Whats going on in your world?

Perhaps it wasn't luck...

Oh, I'm just trying to get through the school year. Cross-Country meet this saturday (tomorrow). Doing the 3K (2mi.). Last meet, my time was 17:34 (min:sec) or something like that, but I walked 3 times. Rest assured, it wasn't an extended distance. But I got 24/30-something. Not considerably bad. Ugh, sucks it on Saturday, and in the morning. Can't spend my weekends sleeping in. I'm already ready for CC season to be over lol.
